Book Reports and Projects
| Mrs. Johnstone Book Reports Options: Choose any one project per month. All projects must include the title, author, and number of pages. All work must be completed neatly, and with care. 1. Regular Book Report Form. It must be completely filled out, giving main ideas and details about what happened in the story. 2. Write two paragraphs summarizing (telling about) the story. 3. Write a poem about a character, setting or event in the book. 4. Design a poster advertising the book. 5. Write two paragraphs telling a different ending to the story. 6. Write a short story "sequel" to the book. A sequel tells what happens next to the characters. 7. Create a project illustrating or telling part of the story. 8. Write a newspaper article, with a headline, telling about the story or a main event in the story. 9. Construct a diorama (a shoe box works well) showing a scene from the story. 10. Make a puppet of one or more of the characters. 11. Prepare an oral report to give the class, and tell the class about your book. 12. Make a book cover for the book including a picture on the front and a brief summary on the back telling what the story is about. 13. Write a brief skit (play), of at least one page, which tells about a scene from the book. You can act it out for the class if you wish. 14. Use an art project to create a scene from the book: water color painting, (or other painting) drawing, oil pastels, material, weaving, carving, sculpture (clay or other medium), construction, etc 15. A special project chosen from the book report file folder. Please do not take the last paper of one type of form. Note: All work should be done carefully and neatly. Books read for the Reading Response homework should be used. Character names and vocabulary from the book should be spelled correctly. PROOFREAD!! **Later in the year reports will be assigned instead of these regular book reports. There will be a Biography report, an Earth Day report, and a Career Report. Complete instructions will be sent home the month they are due. Book reports should be completed by the Friday following the end of the month it is due. The October Report is due the first Friday of November. |
