TYPES OF HOMEWORK:

Daily:  
Reading Response entry.   Reading Response entries should be a 3-5 sentence summary for each day's reading.    Most third grade students should be reading chapter books at an appropriate  level. Picture books can be used only occasionally.   AR books are encouraged at the student's individual level.   Reading Response Logs should be turned in either Friday or the following Monday.   Reading Reponse logs count for I Love to Read.
       
San Jose Sharks Reading is Cool Program.   Students are automatically enrolled by completing Reading  Response Logs and earning points by participating in the Accelerated Reader Program.
Accelerated Reader Program.   Students are all enrolled, and should be reading AR books checked out from the  school library.   Students take short tests on the computer at school on comprehension of the completed book.   Points are assigned according to how many questions are correct.   Non-fiction books have more posssible points.
 
Math homework:  daily paper, a worksheet or a page from the Math Practice Book.
 
Spelling or Language Assignment.
Reading/ language
paper as assigned.

Social Studies or Science as assigned.


Monthly:

Book Reports or Projects


***Other work may be assigned as necessary.
 
HOMEWORK POLICY:
- Late work will be accepted for full credit.
- If a student works on an assignment, but just does not understand it or it is very difficult for them,parents, please write a note on the paper telling me what your child doesn't understand and how long they worked on it.  It will not be considered late or incomplete with this note.
